Paper Abstract: Examines film of Amer. boy's experiences with Amazonian tribe from anthropological perspective.
Paper Introduction: THE EMERALD FOREST
The Emerald Forest is a 1985 film set in the remote Xingu region of Brazil's Amazon rain forest that was directed by John Boorman, a noted English filmmaker. During his long career, his films have ranged from male-bonding action films such as Deliverance (1972) to those that relate to keeping the nuclear family intact, a theme prominent, for example, in his 1987 film Hope and Glory. In that film, the family at stake was being torn apart by World War II and the Blitz on London (a story based on his own experiences as a child during that time). In The Emerald Forest, an American family called the Markhams is irretrievably fractured when their son, Tommy, is kidnapped by Amazonian Indians. The film concentrates on his identification with his adopted tribe, his disinterest in returning to "civilization,"

Paper Abstract: Compares Shakespeare's original play & 1989 filmic version. Theme, characters, action.
Paper Introduction: Henry V
William Shakespeare's Henry V and Kenneth Branagh's movie version from 1989 are certainly similar works, because they derive from the same text, yet by looking at the basic play and the movie's mise en scene it is possible to see that Branagh has used the Bard's words to serve his own images in bringing out a contemporary message.
Branagh's film version is not the celebratory work that Laurence Olivier's 1944 British motion picture was: Olivier directed and starred in this movie as the English and the Allies were close to victory against the Germans. Branagh is true to his generation and their anti-war sentiments that were created during the Vietnam War of the 1960s. Therefore, the recent movie version shows the real price of war--the violence and bloodshed.

Paper Abstract: Theme, imagery, shot composition, camera techniques, editing, sound, acting, directing of 1965 film.
Paper Introduction: The Sound of Music was directed by Robert Wise, and it starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The movie won the Academy Award in 1965 for Best Picture. By examining the key theme of the Von Trapp family being re-integrated through the healing force of love (as seen in the Julie Andrews character), it is possible to see why the film has such a satisfying momentum.
This theme is brought out in eight different areas: The director uses each area to develop Plummer's character as the head of the Von Trapp family, who finds new love in Andrews' governess. This theme is set against the backdrop of the advent of World War II, the Nazis' entry into Austria, and the Von Trapps' escape from the German evil.

Paper Abstract: His contributions to film through his theory of the roles of actor, artist and director.
Paper Introduction: This paper will be concerned with the artistry of Charlie Chaplin. Specifically, it will analyze Chaplin's contribution to the art of film as seen in his treatment of the roles of actor, artist and director. Charlie Chaplin was born on April 16, 1889 in London. He became involved in theatrical acting at an early age, and in this capacity he came to the United States when he was only twenty-one. However, once he arrived in America his interests soon changed from the theater to the new film industry which was being established at the time. Chaplin's first work in film was as an actor under the comedy director Mack Sennett. Sennett was known for his slapstick comedies which featured the Keystone Kops and various other characters. After familiarizing himself with the art of comic film acting in a series of Sennett shorts, Chaplin moved on to work for a variety of other

Paper Abstract: Issue of culture clash between Latin Amer. & U.S. in 1984 film. Plot, characters, themes.
Paper Introduction: This paper will be concerned with the issue of culture clash as seen in the film El Norte. This independent film was made in the United States in the year 1983. However, although it is an American film, El Norte is unusual because "eighty percent of the screenplay is in Spanish" (O'Brien 211). The film was directed by a Latino filmmaker named Gregory Nava. Nava's wife, Anne Thomas, produced the film, and Nava and Thomas together wrote the screenplay. El Norte is a fictional film which is based on a real social issue. Specifically, it deals with the plight of Central Americans who flee from the dictatorships of their homelands in the hopes of finding both refuge and opportunity in "the north," or America.
The first part of the film takes place in the tiny village of San Pedro in Guatemala. Enrique and Rosa are two young Indian

Paper Abstract: Changes in character since 1897 novel, in filmic interpretations, emphasizing sexuality & violence.
Paper Introduction: TRANSFORMATIONS OF A BLOODSUCKER
Dracula has been one of the most popular characters in horror films for over fifty years. In the original novel, Dracula, Bram Stoker creates a number of interesting characters, including the infamous vampire Dracula. However, since the novel's creation in 1897, a number of films have been made that claim to be based on the novel, and countless others contain the nowfamiliar vampire. There has not been, among all these films, a single one that adheres faithfully to the plot and the characters created by Bram Stoker. The main reasons for the changes in the story are the tastes, expectations, and morals of the audiences for whom the films are intended. Some of the most striking differences are the roles of women in the story, the sexuality of Dracula himself, and the changes in the

Paper Abstract: Analyzes films in terms of their portrayal of Amer. involvement in Vietnam.
Paper Introduction: "THE DEER HUNTER" AND "APOCALYPSE NOW"
"The Deer Hunter" and "Apocalypse Now" were the Vietnam War films that first dealt seriously with the Southeast Asian conflict and that first received critical attention. Michael Cimono's "The Deer Hunter" won many Oscars in 1979 because the public was ready to accept a vision of the war that had brought the United States to the brink of a civil war in a clash of sympathies. Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" was his major follow-up to the enormous success of "The Godfather II," and the director was able to create a surreal statement about the destructive effects of the war. It is the purpose of this paper to fully analyze all the important aspects of the films, and include how society's attitude toward Vietnam was portrayed in both films.

Paper Introduction: THE WIZARD OF OZ
The Wizard of Oz, which made at MGM in 1939, is still on of the world’s favorite films. It has remained special because it visualizes its own unique world. It inspired many films that followed, from Star Wars to Close Encounters of the Third Kind, because it constructed its own universe: one that could be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
Others films have borrowed more noticeably and directly from The Wizard of Oz. The opening sequence of Martin Scorsese’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore shows the young Alice in a setting very much like Dorothy in the Kansas opener of Oz. The sci-fi epic Zardoz, directed by John Boorman, also borrows from the classic, starting with its title and the play
